I find it helps to stay to one side rather than follow the wheel ruts. So for me if you want to drive a go-kart use the Pete, if you want a boat stick with the W900 Yes, one of the only downsides to the W900 (especially with the massive bullbar) it the damage you seem to collect on rough tracks.
